Wibbly wobbly goodness

Human: Fall Flat for Windows is a puzzle game emphasizing realistic physics where the player controls a character named Bob. The entire game is a series of Bob's dreams. Each dream must be completed by solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles. Bob has only himself in his arsenal, body, and arms. The game is primarily designed to have fun together, so that we will tell you more about it.

What is this game?

The game is set in the imagination of the protagonist. As his partner in cooperative mode, he has to pass through thematic locations, such as a medieval castle, an Aztec stronghold, a power plant, a neon city, and other unusual worlds. Imagination has no limits, so that everything can happen in Human: Fall Flat for Windows! Even falling from a height won't be fatal because it is impossible to die in your sleep.

Gameplay

You have to control a clumsy character that can barely even move around, constantly stumbling and dancing! However, you have to perform tasks and solve puzzles to get to the exit of the location.

The gameplay of Human: Fall Flat is a lot of fun. You probably won't be able to grab an object immediately, but that's the funniest part: you won't keep from smiling while watching how the character falls to the ground after tripping over a bump or pulls up on his hands at the edge of an obstacle.

Many mechanisms are available in the game, including cars to drive, levers to push, catapults to load the protagonist into, and many other objects available for interaction. Various interesting puzzles can be solved differently if you are clever enough.

Cooperative mode

This project is not very suitable for single-player mode. Compared to cooperative playing, you won't be bored but lose much fun playing solo. Human: Fall Flat for Windows has local (in split-screen mode) and online (for 8 players) multiplayer modes, and they're incredibly addictive! You'll be pushing and hindering each other, fighting and trying to achieve your goal through mishaps and ridiculous falls.

You can customize your avatar to make it different from the others: ready-made costumes and various elements of clothes can be used to change the character's appearance. You can also draw any picture of the avatar's body.

Features of physics

The protagonist of the game moves like a doll in his dreams. He constantly tilts to one side and the other. Maybe it's because he has a heavy cap on his head… That's why Bob almost cannot walk in a straight line. This feature catches your eye immediately, but you forget about it after a few minutes. But the most exciting part of the control is in Bob's hands. You can control Bob's hands and grip any surface, as in Grow Home. What about surfaces? If you can't jump on some platform, you can grab the edge with your hands and then direct the camera's angle down. Due to these manipulations, Bob can quickly climb to the highest peak of the world of Human: Fall Flat.

You can carry objects in two ways: by dragging them along the ground and holding them in your arms. In the latter case, you must grab the thing and point the camera upwards. You can get used to this system quickly without noticing any drawbacks. The non-linear passing through locations is one of the primary advantages of Human: Fall Flat. The paths are different from each other, and some are pretty difficult to notice at first glance.

Moreover, there are paths in locations that lead to dead ends. If you have been climbing for a long time to search for the desired door to another dream, it may not be located there. At the same time, the passage of some areas also differs in time. Sometimes, you need to jump over small ledges for a long time, although another way allows you to jump over the abyss on a rope in a couple of seconds.

The physical model in the game is not very close to the real one, but it is exciting. At the beginning of the game, it's hard to notice it because the protagonist jumps, but then the game fully reveals itself. For example, moving a crate forward by pushing it up is challenging because it will turn over all the time. When you try to build a bridge of planks, it is essential to remember that if you take one edge of a plank, the other will pull you down. Despite the strange style of movement and control, you can get used to it in a few minutes, so you won't feel any discomfort or difficulty when passing the game. The laws of physics are relevant in the game.

Graphics

Human: Fall Flat for Windows is designed in the low poly style, so the environment seems unsightly. There are many crooked objects in the game, and even stones look strange, but this is how low poly is supposed to be. Moreover, you are in a dream world. There are no vivid images in Human: Fall Flat. Almost the entire environment, except for some objects, such as cars, is painted a dull gray. It is unclear why the developers selected this color because constantly moving through gray locations gets boring soon.

However, it is worth noting the developers' attention to detail. For example, when Bob stands on a small ledge. It isn't easy to stand on it with two legs, so the protagonist is leaning on one leg and keeping the balance with the second one. As for the locations, Bob is painted gray, but you can select another color for him. You can also use a photo from your webcam as a face for the hero.

Conclusions

Human: Fall Flat is an unusual and exciting game. Almost everything here, from the control of the hero to the movement of carts with stones, is well-thought-out. Traveling between locations is virtually unnoticeable because each successive level is loaded as Bob falls through the door. Unfortunately, Human: Fall Flat for Windows is very short, so you won't be able to enjoy it to the fullest. This disadvantage is compensated by non-linear passing through locations, but it is not enough. There are almost no puzzles. However, breaking walls with available objects, shooting from a catapult, or breaking the bars in prison with a lever are very interesting.
