Powerful and easy-to-use database viewer

MDB ACCDB Viewer is a professional database application that allows you to view and open your Microsoft Access databases on Mac OS X with a native look and feel. With it, you can easily navigate through several tables, queries, forms, and reports in the database and view each object's data at a glance.

It supports Access 2007, 2010, and 2013 databases as well as MDB and ACCDB files. Note that MDB Viewer doesn't support database editing, and it doesn't support queries or forms.

Supported file formats

MDB ACCDB Viewer is a powerful visual analysis tool that reads and displays MDB & ACCDB database files.

ACCDB database files

These are the default file format for Access databases, and they can be opened by Access 2007, Access 2010, and Access 2013 versions. Though, the application does not support encrypted ACCDB files: the information stored in encrypted ACCDB files is hidden from the user, which makes it impossible to view the data directly from the file.

MDB database files

MDB is another file format that is used for storing Access databases. MDB files are compatible with Microsoft Access 97/2000, Access 2002/2003, and Access 2007/2010/2013 versions.

MDB Viewer does not support files created with older versions of Microsoft Access (such as Access 1.0 and 2.0). The only way to open these old files is to convert them using an earlier version of Access—97, 2000, or 2002/2003.

Quick searching

The high-speed search function is an essential feature of MDB ACCDB Viewer. The search function is based on a unique search algorithm that allows you to find records quickly without navigating through the entire file. This feature is handy if your database contains thousands of records. MDB Viewer also has the option to perform quick searches using regular expressions, making it possible to find data using more complex patterns than just plain text.

Elegant long text processing

Suppose a field contains more text than you can comfortably read in the spreadsheet view; just double-click to open a new window perfect for long text. This is ideal for people who need to find text in large files and quickly process it. The application also supports a wide range of Unicode characters.

Exporting capabilities

MDB Viewer can export your Access database to a variety of formats. You can save your entire database as an Access file, a TXT file, an XML file, or a CSV file. The app also allows you to export only specific tables and queries from your database. This is great for moving your data to another application or sharing it with someone who doesn't have Access installed on their computer.

MDB Viewer limitations

While the app is an excellent tool for viewing and Access database files, it is still a viewer, meaning it can read files but cannot edit them.

MDB Viewer doesn't show forms, queries, or other database objects.

MDB Viewer can recognize most file types stored in OLE fields but not all.

Conclusions

MDB Viewer is a handy application that allows you to view Access database files on your Mac. The app supports the most common file formats and can export tables and queries from your database.

The app can also open and save databases in the MDB format. But it doesn't support forms or other database objects, so it is unsuitable for editing databases. So, if you're looking for something that can edit databases, MDB Viewer may not be the best option for you.
