QuickCAM Profor Windows
Advanced wizard-based CAM package
QuickCAM Pro is a CAD/CAM software package designed for the creation of 3D models and the generation of machine control files. It has an intuitive interface that allows users to work on both sides of a design simultaneously, whether creating machining plans or drawing up designs for lithophanes.
The latest release includes the F1 Car Wizard for F1 in Schools, simplifying the process of creating CNC files for both sides of an F1 car in one easy operation.
Users of QuickCAM Pro can create STL files, image files, and machining plans. An STL file is a 3D model of the object to be cut, while the image file outlines the surface you want to cut. A machining plan consists of several operations which are combined into one CNC application.
QuickCAM Pro has a library of 3 machining plans and ready-made CNC applications for simple 2D and 3D shapes: 3 roughing plans, 6 finishing plans, and 3 fine finishing plans. The roughing plans are used to cut the basic shape from a sheet of material and remove material from the workpiece. The finishing plans make the surface smooth and free from burrs, cracks, or other defects. Good finishing plans finish the object’s contours by getting them as close to their final dimensions as possible.
Users can also create their own machining plans by combining an unlimited number of operations in one app, including engraving, drilling, milling, and cutting with a laser or water jet. The software includes a library of materials to choose from when creating a machining plan.
More useful tools
The simulation mode allows users to preview how their machining plan will look before they start the actual process. The software uses a 3-D rendering engine that lets users see how the tool paths will interact with their workpiece in real time. Users can adjust variables like speed and diameter of cut while viewing their design from different angles.
The Custom boundary feature allows users to draw a boundary around their workpiece and then add holes or other features that need to be cut out. The software will automatically create toolpaths for these areas based on size and shape. Users can also set the depth of cut they want and specify whether or not they wish to leave any material behind.
You can create your own material for a model and then use that material for rendering.
Intelligent scaling automatically adjusts the size of your model based on how large or small you want it to be.
QuickCAM Pro is the official equipment supplier of F1 in Schools, an international competition that allows students to design and build scale-model Formula 1 racing cars. The goal of F1 in Schools is to instill a lifelong interest in engineering and technology by encouraging students to design, build and race miniature Formula 1 cars.
The F1 in Schools competition has been designed to provide an educational experience that is both challenging and rewarding. It is suitable for students from Years 7 through to Year 12; however, it is not restricted to these grade levels.
QuickCAM Pro is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7, 8 & 10. The system requirements are as follows:
1 GHz processor, 1 GB memory, 32 GB hard disk, and OpenGL graphics card or built-in graphics to support a minimum 1024 x 768 screen resolution. CNC machines require a USB connection.
QuickCAM Pro is a good choice for engineering students who want to learn more about CAD software and how it works but also want to use this knowledge in the real world. The application is easy to use yet powerful enough to create your parts quickly. The software can be used on various machines, so it’s great if you want to learn how to use CAD software and have access to CNC machines.
