A fascinating battlefield

Online multiplayer game

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (aka PUBG, also known as PUBG: Battlegrounds) is a multiplayer online battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of Korean publisher Bluehole. The game is based on previous modifications to other games created by Brendan Greene under the pseudonym "PlayerUnknown," the concept of which was inspired by the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale.

This eventually led to the creation of a standalone game, with Greene acting as the lead game designer. The game features up to 100 players who land on an island and search for gear and weapons to kill other participants while staying alive. Every player starts the round inside an airplane with a variable flight path.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds gameplay

PUBG is an online multiplayer action game with up to 100 players fighting in a battle royale until the last person standing. You can play solo or team up with 2-3 other people to form a squad. Instead of starting on the ground like most games, PUBG implemented a fresh new take.

Players need to decide when to jump and parachute to the ground. It's vital to your strategy if you know where specific items, weapons, or strategic locations are. Jumping earlier than everyone else will let you hit the ground faster, search out weapons and possibly get the jump on your opponents. However, jumping into the middle of nowhere, where a lot of loot is located, can put you in even more danger as many players will also converge in the same area.

Development

The game concept was developed when lead designer Brendan Green, under the alias "PlayerUnknown," began working as a modder on Arma 2, creating his game mode, now called "Battle Royale." This mode was later implemented in other games, such as H1Z1: King of the Kill. After seeing the commercial success of this genre, Brendan Green decided to make his own "Battle Royale" game mode.

The game was released as part of Steam's early access program in March 2017. On 21 December 2017, the game's full release took place. On 12 January 2022, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds switched to a free-to-play model. You will also gain access to the BATTLEGROUNDS test server by downloading this add-on. To play on it, you will need to download additional content. There are optional in-game items in the game.

Why should you highly recommend downloading it to your PC?

PUBG has taken the gaming world by storm since its first beta release and continues gaining popularity. The game is now available on iOS and Android if you like mobile games or want to play on the go. Although the game still has bugs and some balancing issues, PUBG continues to receive updates and patches to improve performance and gameplay and add new content, such as weapons, gear, and maps. You can also buy crates with real money, but the developers have ensured that none of the items affect gameplay or your chances of winning. If you like online multiplayer games that require brains and brawn, you should download and play PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
