Communicate with your friends from a distance for free and quickly
Discord is a free chat application. Initially, it served for communication in games between large companies of friends. However, the developers have expanded the application's capabilities, and now you can use the application as a significant communication center. It is easy to use, safe and has several additional features. Since it's a cross-platform app, you'll be able to chat with your friends on whatever device you're most comfortable with.
Manage servers
Discord has several communication tools available. These are personal chats, video conferences, and groups. However, you must understand that the application is primarily built on communication on servers. The entire Discord interface and tools are built around this. Click on the plus sign at the bottom of the vertical list to start your server. A window for creating a server will appear. You select an image representing that category and a server name. If this is a large environment for a club or community - check the box at the bottom of the screen.
You can also find other users' servers. To do this, use the left panel of the interface, where the search tools are collected. You can hover over the circular images to identify servers by their names. Mostly, the servers have their own rules, so you should familiarize yourself with them in the appropriate section.
Communicate via video
Discord also offers an alternative version of video conferencing. You can easily access the screen display feature by clicking the Screen button. This way, you can show a person the correct performance of some tasks or play games. At the bottom of the screen, next to the video call area, you can see whether the video is connected or disconnected. To start the camera, click on "Video." Under the connection status is the name "Voice channel" and the name of the server. It is pretty convenient and straightforward to use.
Which is better - Skype or Discord?
Discord has low latency compared to Skype because Skype records all audio data during a call, while Discord only transmits information during a call. Skype's user interface is more cluttered and less intuitive than Discord's, similar to Slack's easy-to-use user interface. Both Skype and Discord are cross-platform applications.
Should I download Discord for Windows?
You can download Discord to dive into the wave of integrated communication by creating channels, servers, custom emojis, and more. The free version offers an unlimited number of participants, messages, and moments during conversations. Discord offers to purchase the Nitro add-on, which allows you to expand the customization options.
