This program will help you at a critical moment

There are many utilities for backing up and restoring data and operating systems. You can understand how good they are only in a critical situation when you need to fix your data. AOMEI Backupper is a program for Windows designed for this purpose. We will tell you about it.

What is this program?

AOMEI Backupper is an application for creating a backup of your files and operating system and transferring them to another computer. The application is available in three editions: Standard, Professional, and Workstation.

Interface

After installing the application, you can immediately see the focus on experienced but still home users. There are six main sections for each AOMEI feature. As you navigate between the sections, simple and clear descriptions of buttons await you. The buttons are large, so there is no risk of getting confused. In general, the interface is straightforward to understand and read.

Data backup

AOMEI Backupper for Windows has simple backup options, such as simple file and system backups, advanced incremental backups, schemas, and even encrypted backups.

The app has two sections for creating backups: Home and Copy. The first section switches you to the Copy or Sync tab (depending on the button you select).

When you select a backup type, the appropriate Wizard will run and guide you through all the backup steps in simple terms.

All Wizards work the same way and have the same options. Let's consider the System Backup Wizard as an example. You can customize the task's name, choose disk partitions to back up, and specify a location for the backup.

You can specify comments and set up data encryption and email notifications in backup options. Moreover, you can select the backup mode, such as intelligent sector backup or exact system backup. AOMEI Backupper will carefully explain the difference between these items.

You can also customize the execution of specific commands before and after the backup is complete. Advanced settings allow you to specify backup file compression, volume breakup, and system resource priority for the task. Encryption and volume partitioning is available in the paid version. You can also set up filters that will or will not be backed up when you pay.

You can set up a schedule for a task. Backups can be run on a schedule on the days you want. You can set the backup type on the Advanced tab as whole, incremental, or differential.

Data synchronization

AOMEI Backupper for Windows supports four types of data synchronization: basic (manual), real-time, mirror, and two-way. As with data backup, you can customize the schedule and options. Otherwise, you just need to drag files from one folder to another. You can also choose network storage or the cloud as the endpoint.

Data recovery

The basic version of AOMEI Backupper for Windows allows you to recover files, system partitions, and disks. The advanced version features dynamic partition recovery, system recovery of another computer, and NTFS permissions recovery.

Cloning data

The difference between a copy and a clone is simple. Copying creates a copy of the files, while cloning also considers the location of the files on the hard disk sectors and other data that usually does not affect anything. A copy is usually enough, but it is better to make a clone when backing up. In this case, no files can be involved when transferring to another drive.

AOMEI Backupper offers system, disk, or partition cloning. However, the free version does not allow you to make a clone of the system partition or boot sectors.

There is also additional support for partition reassignment when transferring to an SSD drive to speed up system performance. There is sector-by-sector cloning, resizing partitions, adding unused space, and cloning dynamic volumes.

Other features

The Tools section hides about a dozen additional valuable features. The user can create a bootable AOMEI Backupper disk to run system recovery when things go wrong. There are utilities for examining backup images, restoring boot sectors, securely deleting data on the drive, and more.
