Things are happening in the American Deep South. The story begins in Savannah, Georgia, and ends in New Orleans, Louisiana. The point of this game is to fight through the hordes of zombies in order to reach extraction points.

Game modes

Left 4 Dead 2 includes a variety of game modes:

• Singleplayer mode. This mode allows players to play without other human players. There is only one survivor with the A.I. controlling the other 3 ones.

• Multiplayer Campaign, where the 4-man team against the horde of infected.

• Survival mode. Here survivors can get an extra challenge where they must stay alive for the longest time.

• Versus mode. Up to four other players take the unique infected role to try and prevent the Survivors from completing a stage.

• Scavenge mode. Survivor players must collect and use fuel cans to fill up a power generator, and the inflected ones have to interrupt them.

• Realism mode. This mode is available in Campaign and Versus Mode and removes some aspects from the gameplay. For example, knocked-out players can only be revived by the defibrillator, or the Witch can one-shot kill players.

• Mutation Mode. This mode alters the game behavior.
