CrossOverfor Mac
A tool to run Windows applications on your Mac
CrossOver is a unique and helpful software allowing users to run Windows software on their Mac. CrossOver is developed by CodeWeavers and based on Wine, an open-source and free app for Mac users to run Windows applications on their computers. CodeWeavers modifies the Wine source code, applies compatibility patches, automates installation scripts, and provides technical support.
More about CrossOver Mac
CodeWeavers started developing a Mac OS X version of CrossOver Office, known as CrossOver Mac, since Apple announced a transition to Intel processors in their computers. This process started in 2005 and finished on January 10, 2007. That day the CrossOver Mac tool was released. After a particular time, on June 17, 2008, were introduced two editions of CrossOver Mac, namely Standard and Pro. The Standard version offers six months of support and upgrades, and the Pro version provides one year of support and upgrades. Besides, the Pro version gives users a free copy of CrossOver Games. In 2012, two versions of CrossOver Mac were combined into just one CrossOver Mac utility. Over time, in 2019, the CrossOver 19 was released, and since then, it has provided support for 32-bit Windows applications on an operating system with no 32-bit libraries solving this problem.
System requirements
A few system requirements are essential for installing and using CrossOver Mac on your device. First, you need an Intel or Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) processor. Besides, you also need to have 1 GB of free disk space. And do not forget about additional space for Windows applications. If you are still not sure whether your macOS is compatible with the CrossOver tool or not, you have an opportunity to consult the table near the bottom of the CrossOver page.
